Manttoni
Manttoni by Oxer Wines
Manttoni is the name chosen to evoke and elf in ascension, referring to the Basque woman from the old World.
Grape Variety - 50% Tempranillo and the rest mix of Garnacha, Mazuelo, Maturana Tinta and Graciano
Production - 1300 bottles of 0,75l only.
Vineyards - A relatively young and high-quality vineard made from mass-selected plants that borders Oxer's house. We could sa that it is the wine of its orchard. Along with it, it has part of the grapes from century-old plots in Leza and Navaridas, cool areas of Rioja Alavesa with soils with a high percentage of calcium carbonate silt-clay with many layers of sandstone that retain moisture.
Vinification - Manual harvest slightly early to obtain a lower alcohol content and greater freshness. Delicate treading of the different types (Whole bunch, destemmed and also stems to provide freshness and tannin). Fermentation with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks. Then it is transferred to used 600l French Oak barrels, where it undergoes malolcatic fermentation and subsequent ageing for 10 months.
