Vineyards
A vineyard of 3ha located in Cárdenas (Rioja Alta) at 580 meters altitude, dating back to 1903. Iron-rich clay soil. A 96 year old vineyard of 1 ha located in Elvillar (Rioja Alavesa) at 600 meters altitude. Calcareous clay soil. 

Winemaking
Gaxen is made from 100% Maturana Tinta and aged for 6 months in 600L large-format Austrian oak barrels. The use of these larger vessels allows for a balanced maturation, supporting the character of the variety while maintaining freshness and structure.

Oxer Gaxen 2024 is a unique red wine from the Rioja region, made from the less common Merenzao grape, known for its delicacy and distinctive aromatic profile. This wine is part of a personal project by Oxer Wines, focusing on producing minimal intervention wines that aim to enhance the vineyard's characteristics with utmost purity. This red represents a contemporary vision of Rioja, moving away from more muscular styles, providing a winemaking experience marked by freshness and precision. On the nose, Oxer Gaxen 2024 is expressive and attractive, with aromas of fresh red fruit including cherry and raspberry, complemented by floral notes and a subtle spicy touch. On the palate, it stands out for its lightness and fluidity, showcasing vibrant acidity and fine tannins, making it particularly enjoyable. Its organoleptic profile evokes Atlantic wines, as well as lighter styles characteristic of Burgundy, leaving a clean, fresh, and elegant finish.
