Marko Loretxoa

Marko Loretxoa is the most unconventional wine in the Bizkaiko Txakolina range from Oxer Bastegieta. Fifty percent Hondarribi Zuri Zerratia and 35% Hondarribi Zuri, with 15% Izkiriota Txikia, from vineyards in Kortezubi, a Bizkaia village beside a UNESCO World Heritage prehistoric cave system. After stainless-steel fermentation, the wine transfers to ex-Fino Sherry casks filled to just 80% capacity, where it ages two months under a veil of flor yeast. Only 1,000 bottles made. The result is a textured, saline Txakoli wine with citrus, almond and herb aromas layered with a distinctive yeasty depth. Vivid acidity, a salty finish, and the coastal mineral character Txakoli is known for. Exclusively imported into Malta by Briffa Wine Selections.
