Ried Pankraz Gruner Veltliner

Ingrid Groiss's most ambitious Grüner Veltliner, the Ried Pankraz Reserve is grown on sand, marl and conglomerate soils in Breitenwaida and harvested by hand at the end of October. Thirty percent of the berries are destemmed by hand and left whole before fermentation in a used 500-litre Austrian oak barrel, adding depth and spice to the wine's already complex character. Eleven months on full lees produce a wine of real sophistication: grapefruit, peach, herbal notes, dancing acidity and a peppery, long finish.
