Valtuille de Abajo

Price

€26.75

JAG Viticultor's flagship, this Bierzo Vino de Villa comes from low-yielding, organically-farmed bush vines planted between 1914 and 1934 in the village of Valtuille de Abajo, on clay and alluvial soils at 500–600m. José Antonio García co-ferments 85% Mencía with 15% ancient white varieties in open-top foudres for 40 days using indigenous yeast and gravity-fed racking alone. Eleven months of aging on fine lees in French oak brings generous red fruit, silky tannins, and a dry, savory finish. Pair with roasted lamb, aged Manchego, or duck confit. An old vine Spanish wine Malta can access exclusively through Briffa Wine Selections.
